Wife, Mother of 2

Deep and Wide, Oh what a joy this has been to me!  Being a mom of 2 and 4 year old girls my quality reading time, to be quite honest, doesn’t always happen.  Having an encouraging word from Pam, an example from her very real life, and the accountability of her asking “so where are you reading today?” has spurred me on, and on, and on.  I am blessed every time I receive a Deep and Wide email, no matter where my walk with God is in that moment or on that day or week.

Hebrews 12:1-3
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

I thank God for the Deep and Wide ministry that continues to help me run the race that is marked out for me, fix my eyes on Jesus and helps me to not grow weary or lose heart.  Thank you!

Wife, Mother of 2
As a wife and mother of two young children, I found that my spiritual growth had become stunted and stagnant. It was difficult to find time to really focus on the Lord, and I became discouraged.  I mean, if I couldn't give my God undivided attention, why bother?  It was feast or famine for me. So when my church was hosting a ladies fellowship about devotions and reading your Bible, I decided to go.  That evening, I had the delightful  opportunity to meet Pam and her ministry, Deep and Wide.

I remember her speaking of being free to read the Bible anywhere- even the bathroom, and having two small children, found great freedom in that.  She challenged me to just read and absorb-not highlighting as I went along, which was totally foreign to me, I love to highlight!

I signed up for Deep and Wide that evening, the beginning of a great journey.

Through the years I have grown tremendously in my walk with the Lord because of Pam's challenges.  I love getting the e-accountability and a chance to respond- in this fast-paced society, we tend to get so absorbed in the busyness of things, we tend to lose touch with the importance of developing friendships.

I encourage everyone to step out and start living in the Word, start anywhere, anytime.

God promises to draw near to those who draw near to them.(James 4:8)

Our Lord is in the business of transformation, one that will bring you to a place where you were created to be. I am an avid reader and love the allegory of Much Afraid as the Great Shepherd in Hinds Feet in High Places takes her own journey up the mountain, a path that Much-Afraid is afraid to take,

"Indeed, I have brought you on purpose..that the promise may be fulfilled.  What did I (the Shepherd) say to you the last time we met?"

You said, "Now shalt thou see what I will do", she answered, "but I never dreamed you would do anything like this!  Lead me to an impassable crevice up which nothing can go but deer and goats, when I'm no more like a deer or goat than a jellyfish.  It's too - it's too", she fumbled for words, and then burst out laughing. "Why it's too preposterously absurd!  It's crazy! Whatever will you do next?"

The Shepherd laughed too.  "I love doing preposterous things," he replied." Why I don't know anything more exhilarating and delightful than turning weakness into strength, and fear into faith, and that which has been marred into perfection. If there is one thing more than another which I should enjoy doing at this moment it is turning a jelly fish into a mountain goat.    That is my special work",  He added with the light of a great joy in his face," transforming things.."

May each of you discover that passion for God's Word and enjoy the journey He will take you on as you dive into His Word.  My girls are a little older and the season has come again when I can have undivided time with God most days, but summer is near, LOL.

Start small.  Be encouraged. Celebrate each tiny victory.  Share the journey with us- you're not alone.  May God bless you each step of His way- and may your life never be the same.
